The Media Resource Center offers a wide range of self-study opportunities. Besides language learning media (CD-ROMs, DVDs, books and magazines) and recordings of international newscasts, it provides a comprehensive stock of movies, film adaptations of literature, documentaries etc. on both DVD and VHS.
Its stock can be browsed separately in an online catalog and is available for use in the Media Resource Center (open stacks) on 6 video/TV desks (DVD/VHS), 6 language learning PCs and 20 multimedia PCs.
Older TV recordings on VHS are cataloged in an Excel spreadsheet - the former Movie Database - which can be found on the Media Resource Center website. With these TV recordings on VHS special terms of use apply.
Daily newscast recordings from different international TV channels are digitally stored for a period of 21 days and can be viewed on the library's multimedia PCs. In addition to the periodical newscast recordings, the Media Resource Center provides an on-demand TV recording service for lecturers.

Multimedia seminar rooms and language laboratories |
| |
To support language and media seminars there are two modern multimedia language laboratories fully equipped with computer desks. The students' PCs are connected to the teacher's desk in a didactic network. Course preparation can be realized on three separate multimedia PCs, along with an easy-to-use tape digitalization installment for the employment of audio and video files in the language labs. This equipment ensures an ideal integration of multimedia teaching material into university language teaching.
