The media lending service of the NiLS contains a collection of about 20.000 titles for use in schools and other educational institutions as well as an archive with 10.000 titles.

The media, which can only be lent to institutions in Lower Saxony, range from slides to DVDs. The collections can be accessed by a database via title, subject index, catchword, media type and text description. Usage rights extend only for lending purposes, but the copyright owners can be ascertained via a comprehensive registry.

The media archive consists primarily of 16-mm-films, which are no longer suitable for lending. A list of film titles is available. In addition, the archive contains the estates of film directors from Lower Saxony. Archive materials can be viewed on site.
